چکیده

We study a two-dimensional model for interacting colloids which is consistent with cluster states, adding a periodic corrugation potential and an external force. For different colloidal densities and different amplitude of the periodic corrugation potential we investigate the depinning from the static to the sliding regime. In the sliding states we characterize the competition between a dynamics where entire clusters are pulled from a minimum to the next and a dynamics where single colloids or smaller groups leave a cluster and move across the corrugation barrier to join the next cluster. DIPLOMARBEIT Vibrations and Diffusion in Colloidal Cluster Crystals

In soft matter physics novel kinds of “cluster phases” have attracted considerable attention recently. These phases are observed, for instance, in systems in which particles interact via bounded, purely repulsive potentials that originate from the effective interactions between soft colloids, such as dendrimers. At sufficiently high densities these particles overlap, thereby forming clusters wh...

Hopping Conductivity in Single Crystals (Cd0.6Zn0.32Mn0.08)3As2 (RESEARCH NOTE)

The growth processes of Tetragonal single crystals of solid solution (Cd0.6Zn0.32Mn0.08)3As2, space group P42/nmc, has been synthesized by Bridgman method. Conductivity and magnetoresistance of (Cd0.6Zn0.32Mn0.08)3As2 were measured in the range 1.6K to 300K and in magnetic field up to 25 T. Crossover from Mott variable-range-hopping conductivity mechanism close to helium temperatures. In this w...

Entropic barriers, activated hopping, and the glass transition in colloidal suspensions

A microscopic kinetic description of single-particle transient localization and activated transport in glassy fluids is developed which combines elements of idealized mode-coupling theory, density functional theory, and activated rate theory. Thermal fluctuations are included via a random force which destroys the idealized glass transition and restores ergodicity through activated barrier hoppi...

Hopping in Disordered Media: A Model Glass Former and A Hopping Model

1.1 Abstract Two models involving particles moving by " hopping " in disordered media are investigated: A model glass-forming liquid is investigated by molecular dynamics under (pseudo-) equilibrium conditions. " Standard " results such as mean square displacements, intermediate scattering functions, etc. are reported. At low temperatures hopping is present in the system as indicated by a secon...

Effect of Milling Process on Colloidal Stability, Color and Rheological Properties of Pistachio Paste

Pistachio paste is produced from ground roasted kernel. This study focused on the influence of the milling process on colloidal stability, rheological behavior and color of pistachio paste. The colloidal stability of pistachio paste samples increased with a reduction of particle size from 31.4 to 15.10µm. The Herschel-Bulkley model was found to be the best model to describe the flow behavior of...
